Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an evidence-based psychotherapy that is centred around the concept that your thoughts, physical sensations, feelings and behaviours are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and often the way you respond to them in form of actions you take can trap you in a vicious cycle of anxiety and/or low mood.
During the therapy we discover what keeps the problem going and we together find ways to break these patterns to improve the way you feel.
In CBT we use scientific methods such as experiments to investigate how valid our beliefs and fears are which leads to changes in thinking patterns.
CBT deals with the current problem at hand and how it affects your daily life. CBT is also a goal-based therapy which means that we set goals together and move towards these goals as the therapy progresses.
CBT looks at practical ways to deal improve your state of mind not just in the short term but most importantly in the long term going into the future.
In addition to depression and anxiety difficulties CBT can help with variety of other struggles.
